![]() The Old Dairy Cottage dates back to 1709. The year in which Samuel Johnson was born, just two years after the Act of Union and six years before the uprising led by the Old Pretender, This historical building is situated in the Royal Burgh of Auchterarder a very attractive town in the Perthshire countryside close to the world famous Gleneagles Hotel. Our family have owned the cottage for many years, firstly in the 1920s when Normans grandmother lived here and had a small croft with a few milk cows, hens and pigs. She sold milk in cans around the doors to her neighbours and was famous for her ice-cream which was made on the premises up until the 1940s. Many people came from near and far to sample Duncans ice-cream. |
