![]() The term 'peaceful retreat' might well have been coined specifically to describe Ardoch Lodge, an early Victorian Scottish country house set in 12 acres of surpassingly beautiful countryside surrounded by Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Guests can wander across smooth-cropped lawns, through a water meadow, along the banks of the Balvaig River, or explore the tranquil walled garden that sloped towards the river's edge. Ardoch Lodge is the home of Yvonne and John Howes who since 1989 have been welcoming guests here, many of whom return year after year. One can understand why. Whether you stay in the Lodge itself, where each of the 3 bedrooms enjoys outstanding views of the mountains, or in the stylish log cabins nestling among woodland, you'll find that Yvonne and John have provided almost every amenity you can think of. You don't have to take the evening meal, but you will be missing a real treat if you do not: the best of fresh Scottish fish, seafood and meat, together with local cheeses, combine to make dinner at Ardoch Lodge a memorable experience. |
